Visitors book – Holidays and Celebrations

“We stayed at Treowen for a 120th birthday weekend (two 60s in the same week) and had an even better time than we had expected. The house was well equipped and clean and utterly unique. It was a house that would have given us a great time whatever the weather. The weather happened to be good enough to play croquet in front of the house (watched by the sheep) and go for walks. But it would have worked equally well if really hot (you could imagine lying in the sun or lazing in the shade) or rainy (there was a TV, a table tennis and pool table). It was perfect. We are going to start saving up to go again right away.”

“Third visit to Treowen – keeps getting better and better!! So wonderful to have people together from far and wide to see Gill begin her 50s in style. Fantastic food, company, music, singing, games and laughter!! Made even better by a Welsh win in the rugby!

Just wanted to say how very much we enjoyed our stay in the New year. What a truly amazing house, feel very privileged to have spent time there. The kids had a fantastic time in those vast ! The whole house had such a wonderful family feel, which I was not expecting from such a large home. We especially loved the Oak room, roaring fire, afternoon tea, people on the piano and kids playing games, had a sense or warm presence about it. Truly will have many memories to cherish always. Again many thanks!

“What a magical place for a birthday celebration …the children played hide and seek all weekend whilst the adults enjoyed cocktails in the Long Drawing Room and we all gathered together for a candlelit birthday dinner. The “chef” appreciated the well equipped kitchen and the helpers appreciated the dishwasher.  We all think the house is even more beautiful than the website suggests and we were always toasty warm. Thank you! ”

” Thank you for being lovely to deal with and for finding that perfect and most elusive balance between well maintained but not too fussy or posh. It’s a beautiful and comfortable house made for good times.”

And finally to give you a taste of the pioneering visitors who came to Treowen before the central heating was extended beyond the reception rooms and the electricity supply upgraded.

It seems an eternity since the first chill fingers of night crept over this house and our small party. Oakes was the first one to disappear and one by one, inexorably the others have followed. As I write this there are but two of us left. Myself and the body of poor Mrs Taylor. There is no food. I know they shall come for me tonight. I hope they come soon before I surrender to utter and complete madness…….
The rest of us really enjoyed ourselves.
